Mac OSX Java 8 modpack Issues

Details of the issue:
As you know Daybreaker requires java 8 to run properly and once I learned about this I quickly went to oracle and installed it on my mac osx but I was still being prompted to get java 8 and when I went into Advanced options there was no java 8 path to choose and I could not manually choose a path but even if I could I cannot find the location that java is installed in the current and only path that I know of is in the library java folder but that only gives me java 6 but the launcher gives be options to choose java 7 paths so obviously I am confused and want to know exactly what I am doing wrong if ANYONE has a solution to this problem or if this is an unavoidable issue please inform me because I only have about a week before my community transfers over to daybreaker which I cant even install....... PLEASE HELP​

Im sorry for wasting your time reading that long message above but now literally moments after writing that long report the launcher is allowing me to install the pack and hopefully play it however I am still interested in why this happened and maybe why it wasn't working until now so that in the future I can help out all of my other friends who will probably have this same issue considering that they too have mac computers they just don't know that the server will be updating soon
