First of all, I apologize if there are errors or grammatical failures. English is not my native language.

Now I would like to open a thread in which you can provide me with your own opinions about the following situation.

I've been playing FTB revelation. For a couple of weeks. The server on which I played, and on which many others were doing, has closed due to abandonment of the owner. The players have lost everything. Ranks, achievements, the map in general. So I've contacted one of the administrators to see if he could provide me with the server files. Because I would like everyone to continue playing. There was a nice community.

So now that I've put you in situation. I've been looking for a host to host the server. And I'm in a dichotomy. I want something that is easy to use, because I really do not feel like managing a server. But I do not want to waste opportunities either.

There are several interesting offers on creeperhost for around 50Uss. The logical thing, given my needs would be a VPS. But for the same price there is a dedicated server that I liked a lot. But the difference between maintaining a vps and a dedicated one is huge. : S

So I thought maybe I could find people in these forums who are interested in being part of a solid staff. I will not intervene in the decisions they make. But I want him to be a mature person (at least 20+ years old) AND constant. I do not expect you to be on the 24/7 server but to be constant, and know how to delegate the work to other staff members

So you think I should look for someone like that, or directly opt for a vps and manage it myself.

If you have ever been in a similar situation, and have chosen to seek people to help them or directly administer your server. What experience have you had?

Of course if you were looking for people to manage the server. It would be in a dedicated. So you should be able to perform well in this area. Without any need to be consulting me how to do everything. So I would be very demanding when selecting this person.ç

Here's detailed the features of the host im looking on.

So my natural take on this is the dedicated box. But, I'm a little biased in that is the type of server I've been running for 5 years now. That hardware listed can probably actually run 2 to 3 packs at the same time. Main issue will be how much RAM each pack takes. Most of the new packs set to take between 6 to 8 GB actually for the GC and other java functions actually use about 10 to 12 GB. Yes it does take a little more effort to run a dedicated server but, you have better control and it is a good learning experience.

Without knowing the number of players that are going to be on the server at the same time + how big the map is that you might get to take over - it's hard to give a fair advice.

If you're not that many, to start with a dedicated machine might just be a waste.

Just a quick look at the 2 options above:

VPS - looks expensive, look for other options
Voice you don't need, use free services (discord)

Dedicated - depends on version of the CPU

On both:
Is it free traffic - or is there limits?
(the unmetered slots - I count that as connected to the voice)
Kind of small drives, you want to run the server, perhaps space for a testworld + backups (even if those rotate and perhaps are downloaded from the server to other storage, it's kind of small)

The information you were missing:

It will not surpass I think, the 20 users at the same time. Since the idea is to give a place where to play the people who were on the server that was abandoned. In the same way I want to use the same map they had there. Weighed around 15GB. But I assume that the average will be at 30-35 when it is more populated, since it had not been active for a long time after a forced reset that they had to do.

And yes, it is true that none of the options that I presented, have adequate storage at the price they have. But I am unable to find a good host for mc modded.

Any suggestions?

And yes, probably the dedicated one is a waste. It just seemed like between paying 50 for a vps and 50 for a dedicated one. The dedicated one was better.

But frankly if I could get at least 120 ssd, about 8 + gb of ram, and access to a processor fast enough so that java does not die. for 40/50 with panel, it would be fantastic.

And I still need people who have knowledge about mc, configurations and others. I have 0 desire to do it myself. But it seems that the minecraft community is not what hahah was.

I'll have to look in other forums too.

Edit: I do not know if it's unlimited traffic. But I assume for the price and that the provider is Creeperhost. That must be unlimited in both cases

So is it 20 or 30-35?

Either way, if you have that many concurrent players then you need to go for a dedicated host - and if you want to run a community with a player base of that size you need to spend some time to make it run smooth.

And I still need people who have knowledge about mc, configurations and others.

Frankly I think that if you don't have the time or skills for it, looking for "random" people will probably not work out that well. If there was a community around that server/save that you want to start up again - ask around there, those are the people most likely to be interested in keeping that world/community/server up and running - and if they are not - perhaps it's not worth your time either?

I have 0 desire to do it myself. But it seems that the minecraft community is not what hahah was.

This is the strangest thing to me - you state that you have 0 desire to do it yourself, but you expect/want others to do it for you?

Just to throw my 2c in here.

Creeperhost is great, but I've had wonderful service, and 0 downtime with my 3rd party hosting service.

I run a vanilla server with an average 5-8 people on during peak times, and a modded 1.7.4 pack that has on average 5-9 players at peak. The server is near where I and my players/friends live (makes a big difference on ping times) and the staff are super helpful. There was an issue with updating on the modded server, and they went in (with my permission) and fixed everything :)

If you want I'll PM you the site, as I don't know if it's okay to post other hosts on this site.
Creeperhost backs FTB, probably don't want advertising for other service providers :p

I meant that I have zero desire to do it myself.

I have created and maintained servers in the past (only vanilla with 20+ plugins) so I have experience, and knowledge is not lacking. Even to be a modded mc. I do not think I had problems. If I did it myself. The problem is that I want to play, not maintain and / or configure the server, to pay for it I do not bother.

But since I am tired of not finding servers with a minimum of honesty and seriousness with their players, I prefer to pay for it myself, and have someone who takes care of it.

On the other hand, unfortunately nobody in those who would appreciate help in that community, has experience / knowledge to carry it out.

So is it 20 or 30-35?

I meant that there would be no more than 20 people on average.

and the 30-35 I was referring to the weight of the map. Right now the map weighs about 15GB but the server was running 2 weeks after the reset. So I assume that when it is more populated, the map will be around 30-35gb (so I need better storage hardware)

If you want I'll PM you the site, as I don't know if it's okay to post other hosts on this site.
Sure, all the information you can give me will be appreciated.

I just wanted to say that your written English is lightyears ahead of many native English speakers I've met, haha.
