Looking at Hardware upgrades for better FPS in Infinity

I'm getting about 20-40 fps in Infinity Evolved with both Fastcraft and Optifine installed and everything set up in options for max fps. This is a single player world, and setting up a server to decrease strain on my pc isnt really an option for me. Here's my specs...

Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H
8 GB Ram
750W PSU
128 GB SSD
Radeon HD 7870 Black Edition

I've only got $200 to spend, so I dunno if I really can do much to improve with that. From what I understand, upgrading my video card really wont improve fps in FTB much, but $200 wouldnt be much of a upgrade even if it would. If nothing is going to make much of an impact, I'll either put the money into a better monitor or a bigger SSD instead.

Id have to say your processor is most likely whats dragging your fps down. i have an i5 4690k at 4.2ghz, 8gb ram, and an AMD R9 380, most settings high with 12 chunk render dist. I get like 60fps when loading/generating chunks and 95fps idle after everything loads. Playing Direwolf 20. Youre right about your gpu, as our video cards are very similar irc, since AMD has rebranded that card alot and i have an hdd and a 750w psu. But your cpu is old. Sadly that upgrade exceeds your $200 budget :/ i think itd be a good idea to save up for a new cpu/mobo

You could also try turning render mode to fast so that leaves and stuff become opaque and play with biomes o plenty disabled. And if that doesnt help enough you could disable even more mods that you arent interested in, infinity has a ton of them.

I agree with epidemia on that. I used to have to make my own ftb "super-lite" packs with maybe 45-55 mods installed just so my shitty laptop could chug along at 30 something fps. But I loved ftb and so I built a new pc.
