. Neither of us are particularly good at building and as such aren't inclined to build "good looking" things that don't provide us with something useful.
Ideas?
You know, sometimes people aren't creative AESTHETIC builders (not everyone is Etho or Beef), some are creative CONTRAPTION builders. Like DW20. He is surely not the best aesthetic builder out there, but he surely knows how to create an original contraption (Smeltery automation, for example). Of course, there's always the ingenious guys like Saice.Build something pretty
Ohh wait... never mind.
Seriously don't get it why and how uncreative people can play Minecraft modded or not for longer then a month. Building pointless pretty buildings is like 60% of the game even with mods installed.

This is true but creative building can be learned. Aesthetics are like any art form the more you try and experiment the more you get better at it. And it is really something you only get better at by doing.
Hmmm...an idea I'm harbouring for doing on my server but maybe you guys can do it and let me copy the build? T5 Enderman Shard in a MFR Grinder, getting Ender Pearls and Minium Shards. Use of DSUs, BC pipes, Logistics Pipes, TE Aqueous Accumulator and Cyclic Assemblers to make an automated system where the minium shards, smooth stone, iron ingots and gold ingot are crafted into minium stones on demand and supplied to the cyclic assemblers which make use of them to turn ender pearls into iron ingots > gold ingots > diamonds, and later when you have enough of those, auto craft the ingots and diamonds into blocks and 3 beacons of largest size using iron, gold and diamond blocks only. Please do let me know how you automate those when you do have it done.![]()
Try something completely different for a while?
No they don't aim to make it take as much time as in real life! xD Just a bit more time than it does currently. It's a very different game for sure, much more focused on survival. But yeah, it's not for everyone.I got bored with that mod pretty fast. They're trying to make it so realistic that it takes as much time in-game as it would IRL. Well, I don't have that kind of time just to build a single pickaxe.
I have something like this: 3 T5 shards (zombie, skeleton, spider, easy to get in TC dungeons) in an MFR grinder. Mob essence is then used in MFR autospawners that spawn endermen, ghasts, etc. It's rather hard to actually get T5 shards in unleased if there are no spawners because the bug where you could use an anvil to create them is fixed.
Don't forget that you can also auto-spawn pigmen this way: they drop a LOT of gold.[DOUBLEPOST=1377170079][/DOUBLEPOST]

I got my T5 Enderman shard before anything else thanks to other players killing the dragon for me and using Force Sword with Soul V.
Yeah, so others did most of the for you. Kinda the point, thanks.
Have you tried delving into more advanced computercraft turtle contraptions?
For example, making a self-replicating turtle factory?
that is, it creates turtles, sets the turtles to gather resources for creating more turtles and for storing up resources until there's enough to build another factory, then it creates turtles that builds the new factory and starts up another setup?
And in a few days you have a cylon revolution.

If you're having trouble with soul shard mobs, perhaps try and get an auto-spawner first?
I can see your point. I'm on the opposite and could care less about the machines. I just want enough juice to run some farms and keep the lights on. But a well thought out factory is still a creative design process. The end goal may be productivity over aesthetics, but creativity is still the core of both strategies. That's not the point. The point is that for a lot of people it's simply not the most interesting part. I do try to make my base look kinda nice but for me the most fun is the internal workings of the factory, not the facade. A well thought out factory process gives me much more satisfaction than a pretty building.
