I'm setting up a logistics pipes network and I encountered what may be a problem. When connecting the crafting things to a TE machine, I realized that sometimes they will give a different output i.e. iron ore -> 2 iron dust + 10% chance ferrous dust. Is it possible to incorporate this random output into the system?

If you set the output to orange mode, both main dust and secondary dust will be extractable from the same slot. If you have a place for the ferrous dust to go, ideally a furnace then you will be fine. I don't know if that is helpful to you or not, perhaps you could say exactly what the problem could be. It also depends a bit on how exactly you are processing your ores. For example, do you have multiple pulverisers and/or furnaces. Do the pulverisers output directly into the furnaces or do you have some sort of go between etc ?

Thanks, that helps. As to asking about the exact problem, there isn't one. I was just thinking of possible ideas and I wanted to see if something like that was possible. Thanks for the help!

If you craft the dusts on demand (e.g. by crafting pipe) there is a crafting byproduct extractor module. Remember to not put a crafting/extractor pipe directly to the TE machine. Always use a bufferchest hooked to the output and insert the raw material with a satellite pipe to the machine.
If you craft the dusts with a supplier (or passive routing) just hook a basic pipe to the output side and switch it (the side) to orane mode.

I have heard that there are a few crashes involved with Thermal Expansion machines and Logipipes extractor modules. I was doing some testing with Thermal Expansion 3.0.0.2 and Logistics pipes 0.7.4.dev.89 and found that extractor modules have no problem either pulling directly from an orange side, or (if it is an advanced extractor modules) using sneaky functionality to extract from an orange side. You can fit an item sink for ores as well as an advanced extractor module into the same chassis pipe for really compact setups.

One situation in which the sneaky functionality really comes in handy is processing redstone ore and cobblestone. Both of those have non-furnace outputs, (Cinnabar and Gravel), which means they'll both jam a system. Being able to sneaky extract from that alternate side is useful for compactness.
