Local Play w/ Modpacks Installed

  • Tech Support section is for getting help with FTB related problems. If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Bugs for older packs will not be fixed, unless they are critical.

Details of the issue My daughter and I have always used the method of changing the display name in the launcher profile .json file in order to play locally across multiple computers in our house on vanilla minecraft. Now that I've installed the twitch launcher and the DW20 1.12 modpack that method doesn't seem to function anymore, because when trying to join the game from the non-host computer it gives you the original "that name already exists" message as if you hadn't changed the display name.

I know the simple answer is go out and spend the few bucks and buy her her own account, yeah could do that $27 is no big deal, but it just seems silly for the sole purpose of playing locally across two computer and nothing else, especially when most of her minecraft time is spent in the non java version.

So to summarize, is there still a way to play locally with 1 account after modpacks have been installed? Thanks!
