LiteLoader and 1.7.10 modpacks

I was wondering how to add liteloader to the 1.7.10 packs (like the direwolf20 pack).
I have read about this thread, but the pack.json file does no longer exist and if I put the liteloader-1.7.10.jar into the libraries/com/mumfrey/liteloader/1.7.10/ folder and add com.mumfrey.liteloader:1.7.10 to the list in versions/1.7.10/1.7.10.json, my entry in there simply gets deleted and the game starts without the library loaded.

Is there a new way of doing this?

You should be able to just get the liteloader jar, drop it into the mods folder, and run minecraft to generate everything.

I did it by downloading and running the installer and using the "extract JAR". Just let it extract into the mods folder and ylu should be fine.
