Okay, so basically I like the idea of Linkbooks... I just don't like every other part of Mystcraft. Specifically, the linkbooks with the stands as a way to get around from one dimension to another without needing laggy, noisy portals that occasionally spit out bad things. However, Mystcraft world generation? Not so much.

Is there anything that works like this, across dimensions, without all the extraneous stuff?

If you have the mod/are willing to install it there is Warp book, although it seems to not have a 1.7.10 update since november...do not know if the current version works fine or not.

Teleposers from Blood Magic could work, although they cost lp and I do not know if they work between dimensions.

Personally would go with enhanced portals, but just listing more options if you do not like that.

There's also the RF-powered Matter Transmitters and Receivers from RFTools. However, since that mod also adds a Mystcraft-like dimension creation system, it might not be exactly what you're looking for.

Draconic Evolution also adds an item that acts like a Following Linking Book that can remember multiple destinations, but consumes ender pearls. I don't remember what it's called off the top of my head.

I believe there's also the mod called Warp Book which was used in Agrarian Skies 1, but I don't know if it's been updated and I don't think you can actually place the book down and use it.

Some interesting responses here...

I'm familiar with WarpBook, however the problem is that it won't be very accurate when warping across dimensions. Remember the Nether interacting with the Overworld in a ratio other than 1:1? Well, use your warp book to get out of the nether, you could be quite far off, coordinate-wise, from your intended destination. And could end up in a very dangerous situation.

Enhanced Portals is interesting, I suppose it's an option. I guess. I'd really prefer to not have portals, but at least they don't have all the problems the nether/end portal has.

I hadn't heard about Transport Terminals before, looks interesting. May have to check it out.

That might have been a setting used for Agrarian Skies, I'm not sure (never tried AS). When I use warp book 2.0.36 with the default config to get out of the nether, I seem to end up at the exact same block every time.

Hmmm... I was using an outdated version. Testing now to see if this will do what I want.
