Windows .jar Launcher won't open packs

When i try to open a pack made by the FTB team that is for MC 1.4, and it just greys out the edit, and launch buttons, as well as the profile selection expander:

it just sits at this screen and does nothing, even if i leave it for a while.



Another problem is that I can only open the retro ssp pack right after i log in to the computer, otherwise it closes right at the mojang screen

Does anyone have a solution for me?

However, normally, this issue fixes itself by restarting the Launcher once or twice

Thank you for the information about 1.4 packs, although no restarting is fixing this problem, and has been happening for over a week.
Do you have any ideas about the ftb retro ssp problem

This problem might be totally unrelated but on my system I was having the same/similar problem. I figured out I need to run the launcher as administrator and then it started launching packs properly.

Are you referring to the problem with retro ssp orthe other problem. The first problem I have solved, the computer was just being stupidly slow
