Launcher won't download texture packs

Hello - wondering if anyone else has run across this or has a suggestion. I am unable to download any texture packs using the launcher. I click the button and the notice pops up that it is DLing but it instantly disappears and no download takes place.

Running Windows 7 and have no other issues with mod packs or launcher at this point. Can anyone help? I wanted to use JohnSmith pack but no dice...

This is a known problem. The resource/texture packs do not download from the launcher currently. Look here for the confirmation of the error. Note that the thread is for Jaded Cat's own pack, so please do not respond there unless you are trying to download her pack.
