After not playing FTB in forever my launcher freezes up on loading, I have attempted the basic trouble shooting guide to no avail. The launcher takes about 1 minute to show up and when it does it is just a white box for another minute or so and then sits forever attempting to download the modpack info.

disable your antivirus and firewall. i have that problem with AVG, but not as severe. it only seems to block some mods and library's from being downloaded. disable it, run the launcher and download the game, and boom. all working.
if this doesn't fix the problem, then report back and we'll look into this further

I don't see an option in the launcher, I assume you mean the config file? Any special syntax or just change it from automatic to Chicago?
