I think its due to the 4000 people all updating at the same time Give it a little while for the rush to die down and try again ?

Mine didn't do anything when I told it to update. Then it closed. So, I'm re-downloading it. 9 times out of 10 that works

try looking in the directory you have the launcher in you may find a updatetemp folder with the new version of the launcher in it

I downloaded everything manually and placed where it shuld be, but after i run the launcher it starts download again and again... How can I run it in offline mode?

mine updated... unfortunately.... because now it just sits there saying "Please wait while mods are being loaded..." 2 hours later.... same message. Cant logging to play now.
