Mac Launcher starts and then crashes at the minecraft screen

The launcher works fine but when it gets to the minecraft window it just crashes and disaperes from the screen.
please help

Is there anything else in the folder the launcher is located in?
If so you could try to delete the other files or moving the launcher file to a another folder.

Nope there isn't anything else in the folder other then the file that the launcher requires to run

Try the steps described in this thread.

It is known that the mac launcher does not work, minecraft crashes on launch.

To fix it run

export JAVA_HOME=/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6/Home

in terminal just before launching the launcher from terminal.
