Launcher help?

My launcher is not working well right now, and this moment it was working fine...
To start, I keep getting stuck on this for about 30 seconds before it actually loads: http://puu.sh/24UbS.png
Then, it gets stuck here for about 1 minute: http://puu.sh/24U8h.png
After that, it downloads at a rate of about 1kb/s to 5kb/s
When I finally get it to launch and try to join a server (of which is 100% just the pack, all mods enabled, nothing changed, etc...) I get a message about Steve's Cart's not being the right version.
After about 10 minutes of trying to download, getting about 1/2 way through, I get this message: http://puu.sh/24UYs
The .exe and .jar versions both do this. It only happens on my desktop, which is hardwired into my internet, and not my laptop, which is on WiFi. Why?

ya im getting that too i think it might be the server there hosting from they did do lots of pack updates at once. i might be wrong but i am having a hard time downloading packs as well.

My launcher has been messed up for the past 4 hours. It acts like the host is bad -- keeps saying something about fallback. Less than one MB of the modpack downloaded in 10 minutes... definitely a problem. Someone forget to pay the hosting bill?

OK found a solution (thanks Lambert!):
Launch the FTB Launcher.
Go to Options.
Click Advanced Options.
Change Download Location to Europe.

This at least is letting me download a new copy of FTB.
