Launcher does not load on Mac due to missing malicious software check

  • Tech Support section is for getting help with FTB related problems. If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Bugs for older packs will not be fixed, unless they are critical.

I get the following error after copying the new FTB Launcher (Updated June 27, 2020) to my Applications folder:

“FTBApp” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software.

Per Apple's site...

App can’t be opened because Apple can’t check it for malicious software
Using an app that can’t be checked for malicious software might harm your Mac or compromise your privacy. If you’re certain that the app you want to use is from a trustworthy source, you can override your Mac security settings to open it. See the Apple Support article Safely open apps on your Mac.

I'm running MacOS Catalina 10.15.5.

Go to the apple icon in the top. -> System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> General.

There should either be a notification if you just tried to open something and it was blocked like you described. Here you can open it anyway, followed by a popup to realy realy open the file :)
