So the changelog for the most recent update of the Ultimate pack includes this gem under GregTech:
I changed tons of Crafting Recipes, including Mixed Metal Ingots, Dense Copper Plates and almost every Machine. I won't add any Config to revert that massive change!

What exactly does that entail? Is it still possible to use the old IC recipes if you have GT installed? I like the high end equipment in GT, but I really don't fancy having to use rolling machines to make my MMIs. What's going on?

Also, it mentions the Fusion Reactor has changed. How does that work now?

New machine to make plates called a plate bending machine, that's ok
New machine that assembles loads of stuff that was previously just shapred crafting that, in my experience so far, is a pain in the tits
Fusion reactor is nothing like old one, I'm just about done making one: 32 fusion coils, 90+ advanced casings, material and energy injectors, energy extractors. It makes liquid plasma that's worth 8k eu per bucket and converted using a plasma generator..

Liquid plasma. In a bucket. Mind blown.

I haven't even touched GT yet in 1.5 (having way too much fun with Tinker's Construct and Ars Magica), does the Fusion Reactor not make EU directly, then?

heh sorry, I just meant 1000mb volume, and correct, plasma generator uses the plasma and outputs eu.

Here's the big pink monstrosity in my base:

Lol, I know. I just briefly imagined new patch notes: "Due to the highly unstable nature of liquid plasma, it is not possible to transport it with pipes. Technicians will need to don the Irridium reinforced radiation containment suit and manually transport the liquid with titanium steel buckets"

Also note the new cover system is gradually replacing other updates. You can now do clever things like have solar panels and power storage on a macerator. You can also pipe fluids through blocks that normally wouldn't accept fluids (and if you're not supposed to be able to do that, hello bugville!).

Ultimate 1.0.2 happens to have most of these changes in it as part of the GregTech 2.90h beta that the FTB team added to the pack.

I've been meaning to do a PSA on it, but the PSA turned into a guide post which turned into a world download which became an idea for a megathread that I'm still working on.

It's about time that GregTech had a proper guide. Expect to see it in whatever state of polish I can get it to in the next two days. :)

It means that the GregTech recipes for those items have changed and you cannot revert to the old GregTech recipes. You can still revert to the base IC2 recipe, just like you always could, but give up the advantage of increased output for the recipes and increased choice in metals to use.

Besides which, it was the older GregTech recipes the used the rolling machine, not the new ones.

Is this really the way to go for the compact power you can get including making fuels? Or is it not really any better than USPs per cubic meter invested? They can get you about 1 eu/t per cubic meter but no idea if you use those new reactors that cost a ton and half of UUMs.

I'm playing it in Ultimate 1.02, and the plate bending machine seems to take metal plates, but the only way to make them is in plate bending machine? How is it possible?

Go to page 2 on the recipe window, can make it with aluminium ingots I believe.[DOUBLEPOST=1367049625][/DOUBLEPOST]

I don't think the fusion reactor is worth it at all, I've just made one for the sake of doing it for my let's play series as viewers had requested it. By the time you have the power/resource capability to make one one you probably don't need one. I had the older version on my other server and only ever fired it up for iridium production, never for energy production.

I am as blind as a bat it seems... Yeah I saw this while playing earlier today, thanks :p

yea it's take so much space and mats just to make it, but people get mixed up cause of the 56keu/t it's spends off. USPs could probably do about the same output cause they don't take too much space, we're already getting about 60k eu/t day and night worht of power to the matter fab.

I would make a guide for Gregtech, but I'm in the middle of creating an Extra Bees Genetic Engineering Guide. And anyway, I know absolutely nothing about fusion reactors.
