Hello everyone,
I am experiencing a very annoying problem. One week ago I downloaded and started playing Direwolf20 1.7.10 pack. However, after some days I started to experience lag after playing for 5-10 minutes. Two weird things: it's not a matter of loading chunks or biomes o'plenty generation because I didn't experience any lag at first. Secondly, at first I thought there was some weird bug in the world but the problem persisted even in other world generations. I also tried to remove every launcher related file and re-install everything, but nothing. Java is updated to the latest version...what to do? Thanks a lot in advance :)

Are you using java 8 when you say latest version? That is still unstable with forge and it is recommended to downgrade to 7 for now. Also are you experiencing tick lag/server lag or fps drops?

I'm using Java 8 I'll try downgrading. I'm playing in singleplayer and I'm experiencing tick lag making the game really unplayable. It's not smooth at all...

You could try opis, irc that could help even in SSP. Anything that could be ticking frequently such as water/lava, many mobs or anything?

No not really, as I said one week ago ftb was performing freaking smoothly..it's not world related, it happens even in plains biomes.

Do we REALLY need eight Freaking threads on DW20 pack lag?
Well, consider the other option...

Everybody posts in one thread, it becomes a convoluted mess, and then people start pointing fingers shouting "thread hijacker!" at eachother.

@mattbruschi what are your system specs, how much ram do you have allocated to minecraft, and have you made any software/hardware changes between now and when you started playing DW20-1.7?

hmm... Goblins.

but no seriously, that's odd. I would try opis next time you experience this crazy lag and see what comes up. it's likely world related, because it sure isn't hardware related.

What does Opis do exactly?
It measures how much time Minecraft (both client and server) is spending running / rendering various elements, like entities and tile entities. This may show you who is the culprit when it comes to "lag" (low TPS or FPS).

Could it be possible that it solves the problem by itself? I added the mod to the pack and no lag is to be seen haha

Just remove a few mods you arent planning on using. The Direwolf pack is a bit bloated especially considering how unstable 1.7 is right now.

Lag is a tricky thing, as there are so many variables that might contribute to it. I can't play any pack with IC2 Exp in it, but that seems to be a rare problem that probably has something to do with my specific graphics card.

In this case, Jouneymap seems to be causing frequent lag spikes for many people, so if you disabled it when you added Opis, that may have fixed your problem.

doesn't journeymap constantly write to your hdd? Yeah I could see that causing problems on a lower end pc with a slower HDD.

It doesn't seem to help with the problem Jouneymap is causing, but it may be worth trying again now that I'm back to a normal performance.
Journeymap doesn't cause me issues anymore. I used to have FPS problems with it, but I fixed it by lowering the performance settings and turning off the web map. Also helps that I have a 7200 RPM HDD.
