And so far I enjoy it very, very much. It's clever, the storytelling so far is nice. Very interesting mechanics at play, using blood to do just about everything. However, it does get a little tedious, and I wanted to know if that gets automated somehow later?

Yes. There are methods provided of automating basically everything later in the pack, but most are as early as the end of Skylines and Turnstiles
 
Hey, sorry to hijack your thread but I don't wanna start a whole other one just to ask a simple question...

I just got the ore berries from the island but I can't seem to plant them on anything, am I missing something?
 
They need to be in darkness. And on some sort of stone. I usually exploit the slab shadows, and build so the space where the berries will grow has three sides and the top any block, and the front a slab. You can place and pick from outside, and it's entirely dark. It's also modular, and can go as long as you want.
