JRE/Java Runtime Environment crashing using FTBInfinity Evolved modpack

  • Tech Support section is for getting help with FTB related problems. If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Bugs for older packs will not be fixed, unless they are critical.

Title:
JRE/Java Runtime Environment crashing using FTBInfinity Evolved modpack
Launcher Version:
1.4.11
Modpack:
FTBInfinity Evolved
Modpack Version:
2.1.3
Log Link:
Details of the issue:
A friend and myself play on a small server that she hosts. I have never had this issue before and my friend does not have this issue at all. When I load up the game, I can get in just fine. Move around, etc. As soon as I either a)open my inventory or b)open a chest or c)open a crafting table, I get a Java SE Binary error message saying that my game has stopped working. I have tried reinstalling Java, reinstalling Minecraft, reinstalling FTBlauncher, deleting my NEI presets and force updating the modpack, and back-dating Java to an older version. I set all of the applications (including javaw.exe) to run as an admin. The only thing I seem to be able to do is push out the length of time before it crashes. It's the same thing every time; crafting table, chest, or inventory. I have been using FTB for a while with my friend. She is always the one to host, she uses Akliz.

I recently unplugged my desktop computer (personal reasons) and put it away for a time. I'm talking like less than a week. Once I set it up again, I started having problems (and not just with Minecraft) with Minecraft and the FTB launcher. Vanilla works fine.

Please help <3

My friend is using an older version of Java. Java 8 update 60. I'm using Java 8 update 66. I have a 64bit OS and I downloaded and installed the x64 version to no avail.

I have the same problem. Had it in the past a fiew times, but today its almost always (question of time), can't play like that. Try to go to Java update 60, your friend has no problem with that. Who knows...

I attempted to use update 60 (that's what I meant by "back-dating Java to and older version") and it only made the issue worse.

As for the fix, my Nvidia control panel doesn't seem to open. It gives me a message that says "you are not currently using a display that is attached to a Nvidia GPU".
I don't know what that means.
Thanks for the responses :)
Edit: Also, I'm not on a laptop. I'm using a desktop...

Alright... /facepalm

I had my video input plugged into my motherboard, which is Intel. I plugged it into my Nvidia card and... Well, you know how it goes. I feel dumb. The launcher is working flawlessly.

Thanks again guys :)

In my case it seems to solve the problem. I got a Nvidia Notebook. Had today installed a new Intel HD Driver. Now I changed the prefered Card to Nvidia instead of Auto-Setting (that was preset with integrated GPU) for the JRE-X64 I use for Minecraft.
Thanks Jotikuja, thanks TheSixthWizard. Have a good time...
