Hey guys, I recently downloaded the unleashed 1.5.2 pack to play and have since encountered lag that makes the game unplayable. Let me explain a few things though: I've tried everything I can think of, installing and uninstalling FTB & optifine, trying different 1.5.2 packs, changing around in-game settings like render distance and such, etc. The only thing that works is putting the video setting on Fast instead of Fancy. The problem is that I've never had to do that before. I could play the 1.4.7 maps without optifine and on Fancy graphics just fine. I even did a much-needed hard drive wipe and reinstall with windows 7 to make sure it wasn't just my computer. When I check windows task manager, it says javaw.exe is using over 1,200,000 KB. It's never been this bad before.

Here's my computer configuration (and keep in mind that I can run the 1.4.7 maps just fine):

AMD Athlon II X4 635 2.90 GHz Processor (which puzzles me even more because it's a 4-core processor)
4 GBs RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4200 graphics chip
700 GB HD
Windows 7 64-bit

I'd appreciate any help on how to speed things up. Also, I can play on Fast graphics if I have to, but I really don't want to. Especially since I've never had to before. By the way, turning render distance all the way down while on Fancy does nothing.

its taking a 1GB of RAM. thats not that much. With the way i optimize FTB, it takes 4GBs of RAM. I would suggest adding at least 4 more GB of RAM to your computer.

That makes sense, I hope to get some extra money in soon to be able to do that. Do you know why it's doing this for the new packs but not the old?

resize the window.

1.5 was a big fps dip.

IDK but had to resize the window to like 1/3 the normal size to get the same FPS as fullscreen 1.4.7

Well I tried even making the window as small as possible and it still didn't clear it up. I guess I'll have to try taking out a bunch of mods until I can buy more RAM
