Problem java.lang.NullPointerException

so my friend is having problems connecting to my port forwarded server but I'm having no issues, every time he tries logging in this line of text comes up in the command prompt.

Is your friend using the base FTB client for the same mod pack that your server is running?

we both have the same versions of the client and the same server, yes.

Is the server a ownhosted server? Cause your prob connecting to your internal IP instead of your external IP. So it could je be the portforward that failes.
Are there other people that can connect to the server?

people have been able to join my server before no problems. the problem didn't come up until just the other day right near the update coming out, my friend didn't update prier then he joined the server, realized he wasn't updated, he updates but then this problem comes up.

That crashlog is normal cause he can't reach the server.
What modpack and version is running on the server atm? MieCrack v7 / v8 or DW20v4 / v5?
