Summary of the problem items disappear in crafting table

What is the bug? When placing items into the vanilla crafting table and then click show recipes, when you escape or back out of the recipes, The items disappear. They aren't put back into your inventory and they aren't just invisible cause clicking the empty blocks in the crafting grid doesn't return items back to me

Is it repeatable? yes, anytime i accidently click show recipes it happens.
Known Fix use crafting station cause you can't see the recipes by clicking the arrow
