Hey guys, I have just really had it now. So the story is, we played crackpack, and I was having a great time, however now we or should I say I <----. Am having issues. No one else is experiencing the problem, but I'm getting god aweful client side lag that is making my FPS when I first joined look like a joke. Upon joining I had a stable 120 FPS, now I expected this to drop over time (just due to it being modded MC, ya know you gotta expect it) However, this has happened all at once. I have gone from 120 FPS down to a sometimes ok 60, but mostly it likes to drop to about 20-30, now i understand some people play at this just because they have to, however my computer should not be having the issue. After THREE days, i kept thinking i had found the answer (I was wrong each and every time) Now i take a closer look at my F3 screen, and i see if i move for just a fraction of a second, i get 600+ chunk updates, i compared this to a friend and he had a small 40 chunk update. If i stand still, my fps goes all the way back to 120. Now i know the crackpack is KNOWN for these issues, but does anyone have an idea how to fix it?

(I have indeed tried optifine, it made it worse. It isn't server side, so dont worry about the server. My computer specs are a core i7 processor at 3.4 GHZ an nvidia GTX 770 4Gb graphics card, and 16 gigs of ram with 2.5 allocated. (if i raise my ram, it makes it worst, so thats not it)

Thanks for any ideas,

Do you have any tree farms? And are they on biome boundaries(yes I mean biome, not chunk)? What is your RAM usage when the lag happens? Does the lag occur away from your base? Do you have any high res texture packs/shaders?

IIRC, the pack was getting delayed going on the FTB launcher and after some public "dirty linen washing" (why does everything in this community have to blow up so spectacularly, every time? idk!) it was finally clarified by jadedcat that it was because of multiple issues discovered during testing, which they wanted the pack makers to fix. The details were not mentioned in that conversation, but as @ScottulusMaximus mentions, etho got issues on his LP some time later. And now, I see your post. So, I suspect it was these reasons that FTB did not go with the pack in the first place. Sorry to hear your woes, and I hope someone here can help you nail the issue. No doubt you've also asked in the reddit thread made for the pack? Surely Biffa and others should be able to help too?

If they couldn't fix it for Etho, I can't see them fixing it for anyone else. That guy's got a lot of pull with the Mindcrack team (or so it seems)

Most of their base (on the Crackpack server) is built out of Carpenter's Blocks and Microblocks. Just sayin'.

See that's the thing, my base is MADE of those, the only problem is that this is ALL OVER the server, and I've even gone to an area that has nothing around it, and I still run into these problems

I've found a POSSIBLE temporary (or perm who know?) fix, that may or may not work, only been testing it for about an hour. It seems to be fixing it (but thats what i said the first 3 times....) All i've done is scaled down the amount of RAM allocation from 3.0 to 2.0 and I've set the MIN ram setting to 512. This forces my computer to always use 512 (half a gig) of ram, whether it likes it or not. So far able to hold 60-75 fps stable will the occasion spike when I'm moving super fast. I'm even able to be on far render distance. I am determined to find a fix for this. They didn't fix it when Etho had it, but hey...that won't stop me

I do 2G max, 512 minimum, and I've used Santa's garbage collection JVM args at times.

Honestly, I try to build things, even in Skyblock, mostly out of vanilla type blocks--blocks, slabs, stairs. I save covers and Carp Blocks for accents. If given a choice between an opaque pipe and a clear one, I take opaque.

nope nevermind...it seems to be something i'm putting in my base or a mod conflict or....UGHHH i dunno, at this rate im afraid i might have to tear down my entire base to find out what in the world is doing this.....or give up trying...
