Don't have special characters in your install path that will cause problems. If that is the name of the user account then I suggest moving your install folder to the C drive and call it FTB.

Yeah i changed it once i got in to it. I cant change the name itself sadly which i realized after i had a different issue when i first got this laptop. ive updated it to C:ftb_main But even before this recent issue it always loaded or installed the new mod packs and after following the trouble shooting method provided it sadly made things worse as to now it doesnt even show the mods it is just stuck trying to load them

Re posting this with new pastbin log due to that it has changed since i restored previous files to show what was the initial cause.

I would do a complete re-install of ftb. Follow the guide below. But when it comes to creating the folder use the root of your C drive to create the FTB folder because as I said special characters in your install path will cause problems.

I did try that and thats what caused the the log from the first post. and it not loading any of the mods. Also it would cause an issue with me trying to play Ultimate vs tech world 2 or any of the others

Gave you your own thread. Nothing appears to be related to the issues with connecting thread.

My bet is on AVG being fussy

Actually im jut using the default windows firewall. I thought i had put AVG on but havent yet since i just got rid of norton. Made a phone call to a good tech friend who said to try and disable it which i did. and didnt improve. but he wont be able to fully help until next week.

Updated try after he said to do that: http://pastebin.com/1pzbYsDb

No thats not the cause. Because if that was the cause then how have i ALWAYS been able to play? and the fact is that i cant change where its getting the appdata/roaming. The install folder as stated is C:\ftb_main. as changed by my friend who does a lot of programming and owns dayz and minecraft servers. so saying that its the user folder is like saying the sky is green. it doesnt matter.

That being said the line in which it references my user profile on the console (which you cant see in the log on pastebin) is white not red. which to my understanding means that there is no issue with that line.

Are you refering to the underscore?

If you are, then you should probably start saying exactly what your referring to otherwise 90% of people needing help won't understand what you're saying

tested taking out the underscore and it downloaded the jar files but it didnt go any furthe and instead gave the same error as stated in line 240 of previous log only this time the only difference wa instead of ftb_main it says ftbmain

change the install location to C:\FTB and disable avg while you download the pack. AVG seems to hate FTB for some reason. i think its the browser protection, but im not sure as i dont use AVG anymore (this problem isn't the reason for that though)

I put AVG on there because i thought i was using it at the time. Turns out i hadnt put in on my computer yet so its been using the default windows firewall. (which my friend had me turn off but still got error)

I changed it to C:\ftb But still getting the same exact error when trying to download the pack

I would suggest starting from scratch and doing a complete re-install of ftb. First off remove any trace of it from your system. Create your FTB folder in the C drive then download a fresh launcher. If you still get issues then post a fresh log.

I would second UniZero's suggestion: start from scratch. Create a C:\FTB, save the launcher in that folder. Start it from there and change the location in its setting to that folder too (in the options). Do a force update.

http://pastebin.com/4bteAZFp After removing all files that I could find and changing the install folder to C:\FTB it still gets the same error. if just deleting the folder under C:\ and in appdata isnt all of them then please do tell where the rest are.
