I'm pretty sure the FTB guys are sponsored by and/or use Creeperhost, but I myself have used VoodooServers in the past without a lot of pain. They aren't super cheap (a.k.a. crappy) nor are they super expensive.

I intentionally didn't add links, as I'm not advertising for anyone. If you care to look them up, those are two you can compare. Pricewise, VoodooServers seems to be comparable to that MinersPlanet site you asked about. I've never used MinersPlanet, so I don't know how their customer service is. Could be great.

You would probably need the 5 or 6GB version and use about 4 GB to run the server. That will leave 1 GB for the OS overhead. But, personally I use OVH.com for my hosting. I use a bare system and install the OS, java, TS3, and a few other things myself. This lets me remove things that I don't feel are needed to run a FTB server (like MySQL and graphical controls panels).

How is OVH from a customer service perspective? I was tempted by their specs, but googled several uncomplimentary reviews regarding customer service, so I went elsewhere. It would be nice to hear from someone currently using their service.

Why 5 or 6? I asked them and they told me 3-4 was more than enough for the server in most cases. It will only be me and my brother playing at once.

I only used 4GB on mine, and never had any issues with nearly 150 mods. No more than half a dozen people on at any one time, no lag issues, though I did schedule my server to reboot minecraft daily at like 4am or something just to keep things clean.

OVH hasn't been bad for customer support. However, they support the hardware and OS installation. Everything else is up to you. I'm not sure this applies to their gaming servers as I rent a dedicated server. As for the 5-6 GB, it is better to have more for the FTB server process to run between 3 - 4 GB. Java will consume more than that to maintain its overhead plus you still need a little for OS processes as well. Oh, I've had this same server for more than 2 years and just renewed for a 3rd.

Edit, BTW: I also have a scheduled reboot of the FTB server process once a day.
