I don't know if the ftb launcher is compatible with linux, but if it isn't, you could download the pack on windows and then use multimc to play on linux... I haven't tried it yet, but normally you should only have to put the pack folder (direwolf20, mindcrack, etc) into the instances folder of multimc....

thank you that seams like a good idea cause my laptop runs ftb quite well but i do get the rare lag spike so i wanna try it with linux ubuntu as is requires lass cpu and ram to run that OS

EDIT: the launcher works fine with linux you need to run the exe with jdk however i went from 40 fps down to 1 fps with linux

It's compatible. The JAR version of the launcher runs just fine, no need for complex workarounds with the EXE.

As for the 1 fps, make sure you have proprietary graphics drivers installed (or any at all), maybe running straight from the jar will fix some problems too.

Also note that ubuntu ships as 32bit standard which is complete bollocks, I tried running FTB under 32bit java once and it was almost unplayable; this may well be your problem.

Just run java --jar FTB_Launcher.jar (or make a launcher out of that command if you're lazy)

Right now there is a linux-specific bug in the modpacks (they will launch without mods), the workaround being to rename /instMods/minecraftforge.zip to /instMods/MinecraftForge.zip
