Is there a way to remove something from inventory without logging into a server?

I seem to have screwed something up and was hoping someone could help me out. I used NEI to cheat in a weapon. As soon as I had clicked it I was booted from the server. Now I can't get back in. When I try to log back in it says "disconnected by server, Internal server error".

I figure it has to be the item I tried to cheat into the game. Is there any was to delete it, or even everything if needed, from my inventory from outside the game?
 
just delete you player.dat from the server but you will loose all the items in your inventory
