Is there a way to automate the repositioning of a quarry?

I'd like to be able to build a tunnel bore train followed by moving quarries :) This is probably a pretty tall order. In particular, I can't think of any way to actually move a quarry in an automated fashion. Anybody have any ideas?

Turtles? Never actually tried it but given that they can pick up and charge redstone energy cells I dont see why they'd have a problem with quarries.

Can turtles pick up and place arbitrary items?[DOUBLEPOST=1358450864][/DOUBLEPOST]Holy Crap Frames can move any direction now like some kind of car that I can build ontop of? That's awsome!

Well you need to build an inchworm drive. DW20 has built several (mainly for his frame quarries), and I'm sure there are plenty more on youtube.

If you're alright with the default size (9x9), you should be able to just break and replace the quarry using a block breaker/deployer. However I don't think there is a way to automatically set up landmarks (specifically, anything simulating right-clicking one).

(edit) yes, it is possible and quite simple to build a 6-directional frame flying machine.

Yup, as was mentioned, your two options here are frames using inchworm drives and turtles from CC. That said, you must be careful in the setup, as quarries destroy any blocks blocking their frame, so if you don't set it up right it can eat a hole in your moveable frame or swallow your turtle.

I tried this with the 1.2.5 mods, and couldn't get it to work. The quarry wouldn't move properly without crashing things.

So I tried using a deployer/blockbreaker when the frame machine moved, which worked but would always put the quarry down facing a certain direction, which happened to be eating half my frame machine.

I also tried using the IC2 miner in a similar fashion, but couldn't get the MFE & cables to play nicely with frames.

If you have any luck, I'ld love to see how.
