Is there a way to add support for 1.8 skins in 1.6.4 ?

I want to have my 1.8 skin (or 1.7?) with Body Overlay Layers (pre 1.8/1.7 only have the Head Overlay Layer) in Minecraft 1.6.4, can I do that ? is there a mod or patch ? I want to use the skin from minecraft.net

Also, I'm only interested in Steve textures, not Alex

The head overlay is way way older than just 1.7. Must be good 5+ years now.

But for a mod that would enable support for 1.8 skins in older clients; I don't think anyone has deemed it important enough to make.
