Is there a pipe faster than the basic logistic?

[insert trajing standard-issue "Boring Machines are better" comment here]
I'll add my new standard-issue comment: The Digital Miner is better!

As for the import buses: they are slow compared to Logistics Pipes Mk3 extractors. If all you want is to get your stuff into the ME network for later processing, the fastest way to do this I can think of is to use Mk3 Extractors (as many as you need) on the entry chest and send them into an ME interface via Logistics Pipes default route in the pipe immediately next to it. That should avoid speed issues.

Cathe digital miner mine 100 blocks/second? I didn't think so.

I take one useful block per second and not leaving giant holes in the landscape over 99 cobble and one useful block and leaving giant holes in the landscape. Also, we're talking of things like 75 blocks of diamond ore in less than a minute. Run that through a RoC extractor (powered by a gas turbine, that takes about aother minute) and you have 375 diamonds in two minutes. I don't think any other machine can match that.

I have to sort of agree with Trajing on this one, although I could theoretically change my mind on multiplayer servers.

For one thing, the Borer can be run underground, so its not so much ruining the landscape as creating caves.

For another, its horizontal mechanism makes it fire-and-forget: You can literally set up a borer somewhere and never move it again or check up on it. If damaging your underground is of concern, you can do it in another world that you care less about.

Balance questions aside, the borer is pretty hard to beat.

For mid-game, right. But at some point you just don't want any more, say, aluminum, and spending time and power to get even more you don't want is a hassle you can avoid. Also, if you're gathering resources for the fusion reactor, you basically need tons of magnetite and some iron and maybe a few rarer metals. Targeted mining is a huge boon, and the digital miner is easier to set up than a quarry. Plonk down the miner, put an Ender chest at the rear and a tesseract at the side. That's it. Maybe add a chunkloader if necessary since it doesn't load chunks by itself.

It all depends on playstyle of course.

I suppose, but I already filter out stuff I don't want.

I think for me it comes down to the fact that I dislike moving my miners around. I'd rather set up a system that lets me filter out what I want/don't want one time (sending extraneous aluminum to the trash or whatever) and never have to worry about it again. I can always reactivate the aluminum if I want it later.

I think a better argument against the borer is that its elevation-dependant. If a modpack has elevation-specific ores, then I cannot get both with a single borer. But then again-again, I'd still rather just set up multiple borers at multiple elevations 1 time, letting my trash-cans and filters handle the junk, and never worry about them again.

RotaryCraft Boring Machine with silk touch trumps all other miners for ore per second let alone on diamonds. Yeah, tearing the world apart is bad, but for raw resource grabbing, you can't beat it.
Plus, spawners get obtained and you get to reap those benefits as well.
