Is there a non-phial way of getting essentia to the crucible?

My OCD wants me to use exact numbers in the crucible. Is there a way to get distilled essentia into the crucible other than the multiples of 8 that phials allow for? Alternatively, is there a way to bottle up or siphon out any leftovers without doing the dump-in-the-air method?

You can use Mana beans, but you should make a bean farm if you want to do that. Someone has come up with a way to automate that, but I don't think it is on the forum yet.

you can grow mana beans like cocoa beans, but you dont need jungle wood, theyll grow on oak wood. just remember every mana pod you grow will drop a random type, regardless of what was used to plant it.

I actually have a huge farm of mana beans, but they're annoying to collect. are they golemable?

I'd be surprised if they aren't. But if they aren't, you can farm them with turtles.

Since mana beans work like cocoa, I also wonder if a Forestry Multifarm setup to harvest cocoa beans would harvest and re-plant cocoa beans instead. Dump all excess beans into an AE system or sorted barrels, and you're set.

Personally, I just crucible using cheap mats, dump excess, and cleanup using cobblestone. It's crude, but effective. I only mass-crucible a few things anyway, such as Thaumium. Most crucible stuff is one or a handful at a time - not enough to worry too much about setting up an automated mana bean farm. Only so much time to spend ;-)

Mana beans are most definitely "golemable" I have a wall about 27x2 of them and over 300 of each type in my AE system, they are also affected by growth quickening devices, specifically I have tested the Lamp of Growth and Reliquary Lilypads.

To answer the OP though, no, other than the beans right now there isn't but if the teaser shot I saw from Azanor in the MCF thread is what I think it is yes the next version will have some way to feed the crucible and\or recover the leftovers.
