Is my 1.4.7 world doomed?

Very likely domed in the sense that it will not be worth the time/effort trying to configure it to transition to a 1.6 environment. I get the feeling that Mojang keeps doing this intentionally to force people to keep starting fresh, thus encouraging more sales. Lol. Watch 1.7 include a "revolutionary overhaul" again of the underlying engine.

If I'm moving over to 1.6, shit, I'm spawning my 20+ ultimate panels, and 30+ alvearies back in. Ain't no way in hell am I going to waste time accumulating those things again. Lol.

Reserve judgment on that decision. 1.6 mods may offer a more novel gaming experience than just doing things the way you've always done them. IJS the new stuff could be more fun ;)

I doubt it. Greg only cares about making Mindcrack an insufferable blackhole that sucks the life out of you (he calls it a proper progression tech-tree, I call it gameplay that results in an insufficient-sunlight-disorder).

I don't mind rebuilding, and that is fun to an extent. Repeating what I've done for end-game items, however, does not fall into the category. I'm easily making 2-3 ultimate panels per day now, without mining any of the ingredients, literally. By the time 1.6 comes, I anticipate my giant collection of 100+ panels will be complete. Lol.

As long as I have my panels and alvearies, I can deal with the rest.

If you're lucky, you'll not have to use IndustrialCraft at all. Use factorization for your Solar.

You can generate a ton of power by using Factorization to make steam. Play around with pipes and the solar boiler. I'll also probably do it for my Lethamyr series this weekend.

I'm a Factorization noob.

But, how can you "Equivelently Exchange" Factorization power into Other types of power? I think power-converters can't do it...

You can pipe Factorization Steam into Steam Engines for BuildCraft MJs, and while the silver requirements can be non-trivial, they're pretty quick ways to generate fire-and-forget power. It's compatible with anything that can take RailCraft steam.

Won't help if you're needing IndustrialCraft EUs, but if you don't like the tech progression thing in GregTech there's not much reason to need EU to start with.

I know, but is that steam the railcraft one?

All the mods using steam have unified on the same liquid. Even the universal electricity ones. So yes, you can power hobbyist steam engines off Factorization solar boilers and it works really well. It's not cheap to fully power one (it's like 80 silver, I think?) but it's solar MJ that you can later transition to boilers.

And the new servos look very exciting.

KirinDave, you just made my day.

And yes, they do, that's one of the reasons I'm looking into Factorization.
