Is it possible to update Forge on FTB?

Lately I have been having issues with Railcraft due to feed the beast having an old version of forge. Every time I launch the game The console spits a SEVERE error at me stating that railcraft requires Forge Version 9.11.1.965 to work. I downloaded the following forge version and put it in my mods folder and its like the railcraft is still not finding the forge mod it needs I know FTB uses forge 9.11.1.953. Anyone know how I can update to 9.11.1.965? Thanks in advance!

Which pack are you playing?

playing the direwolf pack. Was attempting to update forge because I got MCPC+ bukkit server which was on .965 but I manged to fix the problem by getting an MCPC+ server with .953 instead. Would still like to know for future references though.

AFAIK you have to install forge not just drop it into the mods folder. I believe in the 1.5 packs you could just drop it in but 1.6 changed the way you needed to install forge because of the changes to minecraft and their own launcher.
