That if I allocate x amount of memory to my Minecraft. That it gets way over it?

I have 8 gig of memory, now I use chrome and Chrome uses some memory aswell. But when I allocate 2.5-3 gig of memory to my minecraft it just goes to 3.6gigs.

Now is that normal, or is there a 'memory leak' in my minecraft? If so how to find this (playing SSP so ;)).

Also. It is the Resonant Rise pack on the ATLauncher but the forum is quite.. how to say this, not really reactive. So I wondered about asking here :)!

This is normal, because what you're allocating is not total memory, but a certain aspect of the memory. For example, you may just be setting the Heap Space - which doesn't account for the Stack.
FTB/Minecraft could certainly use for some better language when it comes to the Memory settings.
