If you want thermal-expansion style configurability, use gregtech automated machines. they are even more configurable than thermal expansion machines.

I dont understand why there are so many ppl crying about the fact IC2 doesnt get major updates. The mod is finished, in the eyes of the devs its balanced, its only bugfixes for the most part. If you want more content, go for IC2 AddOns.

If someone makes an add-on, that is because there are content that at least 1 fan wants...Wouldn't that be enough to add more content?
I think so.

IC2 is balanced for 1.8, not for up to date minecraft.

So that huge redesign of nuclear reactors didn't happen then no? Right, okay, good one buddy!

Like anybody uses that underpowered stuff.

I kinda like that IC2 doesn't radically change stuff a lot. With a lot of changes and new things coming about, it's nice to have old familiar friends to comfort us. Plus the stuff I use the most from IC2 (tools, armor and flight gear) is already awesome. It's hard to improve awesome. Now if Thaumcraft some winged sandals or something (flight option) I could see myself switching entirely, TC has some wicked cool tools/armor. With consequences for irresponsible use to kind of balance it. Don't make lots of flux in a treehouse:eek:

wait for the magic carpet

Whether it's used or not it's still an update. And have you guys not seen the new tool that imprints the texture of any block onto Construction Foam blocks?

So what you're saying is, the IC2 devs should have a monopoly on ideas for more IC2 stuff, and because other people are having their own ideas (that the IC2 devs might not necessarily be interested in), IC2 is clearly dead? I think it's great that IC2 has been opened up as a platform for others to build on. And if IC2 changed too much, the platform would be unstable. The IC2 API is being updated and breaking things anyway even without tons of new stuff being added. So IC2 is definitely not dead, it's still being maintained as a stable platform for others to extend. Fantastic, keep it up, IC2!

FINALLY! I can have that clean base I've always wanted. Now I need a mod to force myself to build clean, and not mad-scientist-wires&cables&pipes-everywhere-style.

No.I'm saying that fans have Ideas. If a fan have Ideas, that is because there is way to improve the mod and devs should improve a mod

I don't want a mod that has all the dumb ideas that a thousand fans just thought up. If someone makes an add-on, then I can choose to use it or not. If IC2 gets cluttered up with all kind of power suits and tools and machines and crops and cable types then it becomes more likely that it will simply be dropped for being too big and sprawling and unfocused. Keep the core mod simple and stable, and let mod pack makers pick the best of the add-ons

I don't want it Neither.

You can see that a lot of people is using gregtech ,some in easy mode, some in hard mode but it is almost IC3 because it adds new mecanics, new machines and new tools, keeping the same feel of IC

I was watching Direwolf20's Youtubers Vs Devs FTB series today and in episode 5 a livestream viewer asks "What mod if you could only have one", and the three answers were NEI, IC2, and RedPower. So, here's hoping that IC2 and RP never die.

Thankfully this is not tekkit, so it shall not be removed any time soon. Just because it isn't adding new features, doesn't mean that it will be removed. It just means that it's finished.

Some say that Mojang should stop adding stuff because changing the game breaks mods. Sone say that Ic2 is dead because they've stopped adding stuff. I guess you can't please everyone.

what I dislike from most mods is the inconsistency they have, you have IC2, a mod with machines, ores processing, cables... suddenly, purple goo that can create everything and weird plants that grow iron... wtf... at least thaumcarft, MMMpowersuits, railcraft, etc have stuff all related to each other

Suddenly? UUM is very very old in IC2 and actually creating matter out of energy is the ultimate challenge of industrialization. And well Crops don't fit that well, although industry actually started in agriculture. The reason for the addition was simply... most people used IC2 alone, so making farming easier was something necessary for a lot of mods, and most mods have means of different/automated farming. Now with propably the majority of people playing FTB the crops are kinda obsolete, because you have access to TC3 Golems, SteveCarts Farms or Forestry anyway. But before providing people with food to have more time for the actual mod was required. That's why RC has a breeding-station which doesn't fit the mod at all, that is the reason why forestry even exists.
