Now back to main point if there is one, oh yeah make me a pack & update it as soon as new versions comes out....Come on really.

It's behind but I wouldn't say falling behind. To fall behind you need to have a concrete deadline to compare your current progress to. The last time they did announce a deadline they regretted it when Murphy's Law came in to swing.

The amount of time the average person has to put into a modpack is insane, especially for a public pack. "making a pack & updating it" is a very time consuming thing to do. Most mods aren't even updated to 1.6, so if you want a pack with like 40 mods, go ahead and make one.

There are a few packs already going in 1.6.2 via ATLauncher

Ah you missed the satire, & I do make my own packs btw, just for my own use, I would not be able to put up with the whiners that cant seem to be able to read/google for them selves & want the person that makes a pack to do every damn thing for them.

If required we/I could make a guide, how2 setup 162 pack & the required config/id editing

I am curious on what peoples thoughts are regarding the slow updating of feed the beast.

My thoughts are that feed the beast doesn't update slowly.
My other thoughts are that people who think it updates slowly have no comprehension of what is involved in updating a modpack---perhaps more importantly the 100+ mods that make up the pack---between major releases of minecraft.

People need to adjust their expectations to be more inline with what is realistically possible.

It used to be not very much, then Mojang started changing things to "make it easier for modders"...

I'm aware that it might be a small amount of pain for easier lives in the future. I'm also aware that it might just be constant tinkering with the backend, and never actually letting anything settle down.

for FTB to be able to move to 1.6.2 most of the mods in the modpacks need to have updated to 1.6.2, otherwise the modpacks will become completely different modpacks and they end up with hundreds of modpacks that they somehow need to keep organized. I do wish though that FTB would be able to provide an universal config pack for their modpacks, so people can choose to move onto newer versions without having to worry if their world will work with the FTB modpacks when they do get updated.

Having been building the 1.6.* version of RR recently I can tell you that whilst the technology mods appear to have imploded (barring IC2 which is still very WIP), aesthetic mods appear to be having a renaissance. There's lots of mods showing up that let you just make pretty buildings and houses, or more elaborate stonework.

cpw was expressing concern the other day about the eventual state of 1.7.* modding, but I think it's unfounded - although we may be seeing the beginnings of a sea change in the community. That, and some of us have long-term modding projects gestating and almost ready to be put to the digital pen.

for those who may not follow DW20 he did make a fairly nice video about using the 1.6.2 launcher like MultiMc, having multiple profiles and such

It's no different than 1.5.x. Once you use the Forge Installer to create the mods folder, you simply drag n drop, and done.

Yep but most ppl dont know this.[DOUBLEPOST=1379434301][/DOUBLEPOST]

Im playing 1.4.7... it seems to me that the main things im missing out on are mod changes, not anything due to vanilla. Horses? Ok i can go without that. Nether quartz, etc.

Check out Tinker's Construct - it's one of the best new mods right there - only for 1.5, 1.6 MC. But i agree with you that vanilla changes aren't that useful for modded MC - but i like new changes to zombie "hordes" from 1.6 - they will follow you in a lot of blocks to hunt you down. Also carpets aren't in mods. Nether quartz is used in a lot of mods so it has it's purpose - alos it looks good. Vanilla hoppers are better than BC were. So not all new stuff from vanilla are rubish - some are even better than mods :)

Also for 1.6 FTB update Slowpoke said that they will skip it and make 1.7 official release.

Remember that for 1.6 mods whose use Forge all the liquid management has changed and mods must be rewritten - and that takes time because i think all modders are making mods as a hobby.

About tinkers construct if you are still playing 1.4.7 I think I have a old version around sense my sister and me still play together on it sometimes There isn't a smeltery though so you have to cheat in cobalt when you find it other then that
and bows don't exists yet hmmm

I agree with you a lot here but I don't think it is falling behind I do understand that yes there are some pretty awesome things in the new MC versions, but we all got to remember it takes a while for all the mods to update and one of the main mods ftb uses "Redpower" hasn't been updated sense well 1.4.7 and that isn't really elorram's fault she has a job a life and a whole bunch of other things she probably likes to do then sit behind a computer 24/7 trying to fix errors for her code after she fixes errors at her job I think she is a server tech support person :p so No it isn't getting left behind it is just taking a while to catch up. give it some time to grow an things to get fixed and we will have our FTB maps back.

There is no Tinkers for 1.4.

Also carpets aren't in mods.

Microblocks are though.

actually you are wrong there isn't one on the site because it was a alpha/beta release of the mod once it became a beta/full release they took it down, it is from what I understand still in the direwolf mod pack for 1.4.7, but it is in the minecraft folder not the mods folder. if it is not though here it is I still have a spare copy

Edit: I'm not trying to be a prick just pointing it out also the file here gives the 1.4.7 version plus the config :p just open up the zip
