Summary of the problem Iron Backpacks - Compression not working

What is the bug? I'm using Iron Backpacks and I've crafted a golden backpack with a compression upgrade.

with this upgrade you can auto-compress blocks that fall into the inventory of the backpack. through a special GUI you need to specify which items/blocks you want to have the backpack automatically compress for you.

the problem I'm having, the backpack isn't compressing anything, whether I specify cobble for example, or redstone that's mentioned in the information for this upgrade

I've also a mining filter upgrade installed, but that doesn't affect this problem, because it happens with or without the mining filter installed.

found a fix for this problem. for the compression upgrade to work you NEED a basic filter for this to work. you can also install other filters, but a basic one is required.
