Iridium gathering

Ok who has the best tips and tricks for gathering this stuff. Its so rare i might scream. I found 1 ore and ive mined 5 of the end ore that lets you get iridium nuggets.

The only thing i can think of is getting platinum bees and doing it that way. Im playing Mindcrack. Id really like to play with the fusion reactor, matter fab, and fancy armors but making even one plate feels impossible. Or improbable.

I'd recommend using the bee-related machines from Extra Bees to speed up the Platinum Bee's production rates, then putting them into an alveary. Bonus points if you use frame holders to put in some production boosting frames!

Here's my notes on Iridium:
• Your ferrous ore, you've got it, right? Don't do anything, ANYTHING, to this ore (unless you need nickel for your blast furnace, but don't smelt too much) until you've got an industrial grinder and mercury cells.
NEVER grind ferrous without mercury, you get 4x the platinum which can then be centrifuged into iridium.
• Iridium ore can't really be farmed. It's meant to be a bonus if you find it, or if your mining machines pick one up.
• Sheldonite in the End (also use mercury cells).

So until you get your first matterfab set up (which is by far the best way to get iridium short of a Fusion Reactor), centrifuge some platinum, it really doesn't take much. Maybe a stack or two of ferrous.

Yeah, as Zerren said: MattFab is the way to go. It WILL start out slow, but you should invest ALL UU matter into making hybrid solar panels to keep increasing the power you input into the system until you are making a boatload of UU matter. I'm making two stacks a day now.

In case that you need nickel (for TE engine or induction smelter), just process iron ore in pulverizer and there's 10% chance to get ferrous dust (which is nickel), don't waste your ferrous ore.

I would like you all to know that while I appreciate the matter Fab advice, I'm pretty sure the iridium recipe has been disabled. Which is a shame because I could probably make that work well. I do have a lot of ferrous ore stockpiled. Or at least I've never used any. I'm also not playing the most recent version of mind crack. I think its v7 or so.

Which recipe is disabled? UUM-> iridium or ferrous ore in i. grinder ->platinum?

The iridium uu matter is. I don't know bout the other.

The recipe has never been disabled per default (by GT), if you can't craft it, there is something wrong with your uum config. It's also one of the hidden IC2 recipe so you can't find it in NEI.

I don't see it in nei cause I guess its not there and I don't have a UU matter Fab. To try it atm. I'll have to look into the uu matter Fab and build it and see. I really really hope it is there because I have tons of scrap and uranium for it.
