What is the best way to get about, 40 instrumentum?
Instrumentium... Isn't that one of the aspects of, say, shovels? I'd suggest making about 40 wooden shovels and processing them. Or stone if you want saxum instead of what one gets from wooden tools.

Best source is flint. Only 1 instrumentum each, but it's plentiful and it stacks, as opposed to tools.[DOUBLEPOST=1405634573][/DOUBLEPOST]
Oh i forgot to specify, as research points :p
Ah, that's different. Scan lots of different tools. If you need to buy some research, you will almost certainly need to make Instrumentum from its component aspects at some point, and those from their aspects, all the way down to ordo, terra and a whole load of aqua.

Exactly this problem is why I say that "hard" research is actually easier than normal mode. If you need to buy research, you must have the rare and expensive aspects, while if you use the research minigame, you can most often find a different path.

Yeah, this type of research can be quite annoying when you need an insane amount of of aspect. Thank you guys!

Have you not researched the skill of combining research points to form compound aspect? That is kinda vital for researching.
Use the Deconstruction Table if you run out of primary aspects.

You mean the one(s) of making it easier, right? Because I learn pretty much every aspect before scanning anything.

Indeed. 50 Instrumentium for research? What, are you on easy mode? Or just in a weird research chain that uses a lot of that sort of aspect?

I am pretty sure every wand core needs instrimentum, at least 5.

Again, is this in easy mode? Because I don't recall using 5 for my greatwood wand core.
In fact, Normal mode is a mild misnomer, easy is a outright lie, and hard mode is actually the cheapest on research aspects since you can outright pick what to use. There are things that require specific aspects because nothing else will link in the amount of space one has, but that's me assuming this because it kinda makes sense.

Normal mode also requires purchase of the wand core and staff core researches. Hardmode is awesome.

My only gripe with hardmode is the Metal Purification and Transmutation research trees.

Ditto. I turn it to normal when I'm doing such trees, because they're cheaper then, oddly enough.
