Is it possible to turn of trees replacing blocks when grown and also i did a test of putting a block 8 above an oak sapling and bonemealed the sapling. The sapling turn into a big oak tree(Don't think this normally happens on vanilla if a block is blocking large tree). Can i turn this off too?

What tree is it?
Vanilla trees will only grow to the size of the room they are in, or smaller.
Natura trees will destroy blocks that are in the way.
Dunno about BoP trees, but I would assume they follow the same as vanilla... but it could be that they do the same as natura.

I have only tried the vanilla oak tree's at the moment. But yeah, it destroys blocks in it's way when growing into a big tree.

I've had it happen in Monster as well. It's annoying, but solvable by not putting things close enough to get busted.

Yeah basic solution. But i would like to stop my sapling turning into the big oak trees to increase the speed of my mfr farm and i would also like to create a tower farm with the tree farm at the bottom but cant if it does this.

simple answer, use birch trees they can't grow too big

Block replacing trees are a vanilla mechanic. A solid roof over the 5x5 area a tree will normally grow into should stop apacatrees from growing but there is no guarantee.

It's worth pointing out that for vanilla trees, different breeds give different drops. Oak are, far and away, the best for apples (birch drop some, but nowhere near the same quantities), birch and oak are best for saplings, and spruce have the best wood:sapling ratio.

Birch does not drop apples, unless a mod changes that...
Birch also have the worst sapling yield in vanilla, apart from 1x1 jungle trees.

I could be thinking of a while back, but I'm fairly sure that I used to get apples from birch. Not many, but one or two for every couple of stacks of saplings.

that may have been a forestry thing, a birch tree that could flower apples?

I have never experience such a thing from 1.4.7 and up. Not even with forestry or any such mod.

Btw, I could have sworn I saw a config option to disable trees from destroying blocks as they grow. But disabling this had the side effect of trees not being able to grow if they are obstructed be leaves. Just cannot remember the mod...

Fair enough. I'm quite happy to believe that it's my own faulty memory playing tricks on me.
