Details of the issue attempted capture of butterfly with golden lasso (while it was resting on some agricraft crops supporting mature potatoes, if that matters any)

Don't use the golden lasso to capture them. Use the forestry method. If this is a mod issue then the mod author has now moved on so I doubt it will be fixed.

Ahh, I'd been searching NEI for the right method of capture and having not found anything I tried the lasso.

The ftbwiki article on the scoop https://ftbwiki.org/Scoop didn't mention its ability to catch butterflies as well, and I had not gone on to read the forestry article on same https://ftbwiki.org/Butterfly where it referenced the scoop as the tool.... I was just trying to scope it out in game without checking the wiki first.

Perhaps there's a way to patch Infinity Evolved so that the lasso will just fail normally when attempting to capture one.

Not going to happen as the pack is no longer being worked on and unlikely anybody will as mod devs and mod pack makers have moved to 1.10.2 and beyond now.

Like I said, just don't use it.
