Old thread, but I have some input. Use a sawmill to get six planks of wood from each log. You'll want rotarycraft for this next step. Put the planks into a grinder which will yield four sawdust per plank, yielding 24 sawdust in total from one log. Next, make three compressed sawdusts from from the 24 sawdust you just made. You can cook each of the compressed sawdusts to yield three charcoal. Thus, three charcoal per one log.

Now the question is, by the point you set that stuff up, do you still need the Charcoal for power?

Sometimes a project is done solely because it can be done, not because it is needed. Besides, if you can triple the amount of fuel your farm is producing, you can expand your consumers significantly before needing to move to the next tier of power generation. If you can push it far enough, and depending on the mods in your pack, that could be enough to take you to, or even through, end game.

The use of Rotarycraft denotes the pack is 1.7, and there is a chance Reactorcraft is there beside it. Reactorcraft can produce a metric shitton of power, but if something goes wrong, bad things happen. An extended period of fossil fuels can help extend the design/build window to make sure no mistakes are made due to rushing.

Lost as always
Considering the original discussion was from two years ago, I'd say either they figured it out, or got frustrated and did something else by now...

Yes indeed, nuclear power is always something I do eventually. However, the charcoal from what I mentioned is eventually made into liquified coal through blood magic, which results in a massive power bonus. Also... It's just cool and I go overkill on power anyways. It's my specialty.
