After walking into the top of my own furnace I am wondering if there is a safe way to depost items into it? I am looking into maybe using some redpower stuff, or anything else if someone has a suggestion, so that I can not be climbing around an open hole of lava. Thanks in advance ^_^

Plop a relay or ejector on top, facing down. Ejector will output one item at a time, a relay the entire stack that gets put in.

You've probably already gone and made the ejector/relay by now (I believe the furnace only smelts one item at a time, so the ejector will probably work better).
In any case, a BC rig will work well, too - objects will get ejected out of a dead-end pipe. The other end can be attached to a chest via redstone engine.

I just have a bc pipe end right above the opening. You have to have a block wall surrounding it though as the items don't seem to want to drop right in. They kind of shoot off toward the sides avoiding the lava.

Native ore chunks get shoved in the hand mirror. I'm relatively sure this is the main intended purpose of Magic Mirrors.

You can put a mirror above an IF and just have it dump all contents. Anything it can't process is lava-ified.

I have this sneaking suspicion that soon Azinor will add a way to link multiple mirrors and filter by item type up in that higher dimensional space. :)

By the way, I've never hit a point where the infernal furnace has lost items. You can dump a whole quarry in there if you want and it'll dutifully process. Its internal buffer is truly huge. That said, for flux considerations I do not process cobble or dirt through the furnace.

After losing a my goggles last night when I accidently walked into the open hole I am going to be way more careful. Though now I have a good amound of stone and stone wafers...

yeah falling in sucks. For theme reasons I use a chest over the opening (keeps things I dont want falling in) and just use a BC wood pipe and a gate. Then have a golem fill the chest as needed.

Damn them little buggers are cute.

If I did not care about theme I would most likely use a BT solution or the Mirror thing.

But damn them little bugger are cute running around.

I am not yet up to all of the golems at the moment. Right now working on the levitator then want the bellows. I think some BC pipes will work.
