increasing ram for ftb not working

  • Tech Support section is for getting help with FTB related problems. If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Title:
increasing ram for ftb not working
Launcher Version:
1.4.7
Modpack:
trying to increase ram to play infinity
Modpack Version:
1.5.1 although I have removed a bunch of mods (can't remove more cause I want to join a server)
Log Link:
Details of the issue:
basicly I want to increase the ram bigger than 1 gb. My computer has 2 gb and I want to be able to give around 1.3gb of it to minecraft. by googling I have found out you should be able to increase the ram in the launcher via options-advanced options-additional java parameters. what I learned to put in there is "-Xms256M -Xms1324M" but it doesn't work. I've messed around with the numbers but the left number (the one that I actually need to change) every time I put it 1mb (or more) it fails to launch. the rest of the story is told by the log. Please let me know why it isn't working and if there is any other way to increase my ram that should work. btw when I have no programs running in the background I have about 1.4gb ram available.

-Xms<number> specifies the minsize of the heap, you put it only ONCE in the command line
-Xmx<number> specifies the maxsize of the heap

You should only change -Xmx(and it won't start because you said min is 1025 and max is 1024, which makes no sense).
Also I don't think you'll be able to play ftb infinity with 2GB of ram, sorry(ftb infinity is pretty much the heaviest pack there is on the launcher, try something else).

There is no way you can run Infinity with just that much RAM on 32-bit Windows. You should try Lite3 instead.

I'm just saying that I have 3G RAM total on 32-bit Linux and I didn't have enough to even start Infinity every time I tried because it ran out of memory trying to load the mods.
