Problem Incompatible Vanilla Server - Direwolf20 1.16 Forge Version 36.0.14

I have downloaded the server files via the FTB app and I keep getting incompatible vanilla server, with the error message "incomplete set of tags received from server",

I have re installed the files, updated java etc and still no change :(

any help would be much appreciated,

Just by opening the 1.16 .jar file, the way I would on an unmodded server is there another way? :)
 
You should use the start.sh or start.bat file to start it. Sounds like you are just starting a vanilla server. You may want to (probably will want to) delete the world folder that it's already generated, as it will be vanilla.

This is the error message I get when I try run the .bat file even when first opening server files after initial installation, got a friend to try and he has the same issue :(

(Its probably something really simple but I am a noob)
