Hey guys, Devack here!

Okay, as I said in my intro post, I'm an aspiring modpack developer, and I've decided to come to FtB to look for tips and hopefully have the pack added to the launcher.

So, this is IncCraft. It got its name because it's intended to be the official modpack for the Sprites-Inc Minecraft server, but I'd like to eventually make it available for public use. It's currently in its 1.4.5 build (Had an issue with a mod conflict), and I'm about to finish the 1.5 build, but I could use some help. In case anyone's asking, it's intended to be a 1.7.10 modpack.

I want to be able to streamline the pack to make it run a bit better, especially on older computers, as well as adding as many cool and fun mods to the pack as possible to help stimulate creativity in both Survival and Creative modes, as this is the overall goal of the pack. Also, if anyone has any tips or advice as to what to change and how, or just want to test the pack, which helps me out, let me know over PMs, and I'll reply with the link to the 1.4.5 build, since I haven't submitted it to the launcher just yet. Also, advice on how to add OptiFine to the pack would help greatly.

List of the mods in the pack:

Hardcore Ender Expansion
Custom NPCs
Lucky Blocks
Not Enough Items
WAILA
GalactiCraft
Pam's Harvestcraft
Ex Nihilo
MystCraft
Chisel
Carpenter Blocks
Iron Chest
Treecapitator
Enchanting Plus
Twilight Forest
Mutant Creatures
Tinker's Tweaks
Open Blocks
Simply Jetpacks

Upcoming mods:

EnderIO

If I recall correctly, you're not permitted to distribute OptiFine with a pack. Users will need to add it themselves.

Going from there: you mentioned performance, so take a look at Opis. It provides server and client-side performance monitoring tools, and is probably the most popular mod for that purpose. It also has native mapping capabilities which is neato.

As far as any "fun" mods are concerned, you'd want to define a bit better what sort of pack you'd like to make. I see a lot of people start these kinds of threads with "what kinds of mods do you think I should add", but I feel that's the wrong direction. Trying to please everyone will just make an incoherent pack. You should decide straight from the start what sort of specific experience you'd like your players to have, look for mods that fit that theme, and be strict (with them and yourself) with which mods you elect to add.

Basically, stimulating creativity while providing a more complete Survival experience is the core focus on the pack.

As for Opis, I can take a look at it.
