Hey there! Im in need of some inspiration. When ever i play FTB and/or minecraft i seem to build the good'ol 9x9's... It gets very boring after a while and want to build a legit, nice looking house/base to house my machines, farms, storage, etc. If you can help that would be great!!! :)

I find most my inspiration with google image search and my decade long collection of scifi/fantasy wallpaper/images(use them randomly as wallpaper/screensaver).
Some times when I find a good idea, I might do a search to see if anyone did anything like it in minecraft, but mostly I just use the normal images as inspiration.

I'm not great at designing from scratch but I love to build. I usually look through Planetminecraft.com or mcschematics.com for projects. Some people may say its cheating but I don't cheat the builds in, nor do I cheat in the mats. I mine all the resources and build in survival keeping the plan open on my second monitor. I feel it's like buying Lego's and following the directions :) Usually I end up making changes to the build as I go to allow for cabling etc etc.

PS Awesome username! love PTX! Going to see them (again) in Feb.

I do something similar to you. I use the "Schematica" mod to create a ghost template of the building from schematic form (from PlanetMinecraft and/or MCSchematics) and then build it from there as I have a problem with keeping my eyes focused. Schematica does come with a "printer" function which will take blocks from your inventory and place them for you, but the placement of blocks that change their appearance depending on which way you place it (eg. Stairs) is a little finicky, so I don't use it too much.

If you don't mind a bit of a process, take a look at MrCrayfish's Construction Mod (http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/2126877-). You'll have to transfer the building to the mod's own "schematic" items (which will save the buildings to txt files) using the pencil tool and then have enough ink to actually create the construction plans and have the materials that will go into the building. Those materials go into a block along with the construction plans, and then you hit the block with a hammer and every 10(?) hits, it will automatically construct one layer of the building and use the materials that are in the block's inventory. Personally, I like it. I see it as a useful way to mass reproduce buildings. It does come with some stock "schematics" that have either been created by Crayfish himself, or have been submitted/donated by users via "Building Packs" that you'll have to download yourself from his site.
