The thing about Inventory Tweaks is that yes, it has some annoying features, but the useful ones like Shift+Space dumping the entire inventory, or being able to move things with the scroll wheel far out weigh the irritation. And me, I don't mind having it rearrange stuff. I get the glitch where I try to place something just out of reach and it seems to vanish. Instead of having to move stuff around to find it, I just middle-click and boom it's there.
For me though the one mod would have to be Railcraft. Ore doubling, power, the steam oven. Trains for personal and item transport. What's not to like?
