hey,
in our previous ftb projects we always thought of this one thing: Why is there mining in the endgame?

I mean: You own your precious fusion reactor and your 10 AE drives are all filled up with 64k storage cells.
But you STILL have to maintain those quarys which will bring you lag and doom.

The idea:
A block which will absorb all kinds of blocks from "other universes" and export them to "your universe". It will not simply produce, it will cost your energy (much energy). Something like: every 1B/t (EU?) of energy given will produce the same as 1 quarry running at fullspeed (Same chances on items).
With this block you will be able to stop the laggy quarys in your world and stop lag-mining at all.

The thing is: Is there an existing addon like this? Or is the laggy mining in the endgame still necessary?

modpack: ftb ultimate.

greetings

looks pretty cool!
Does this "mine" all of the ores available? Or just vanilla ones?

edit: I see, only 1.5+
soo... nothing for 1.4.7? :/

There is a version for 1.4.7 but it doesn't have the Laser Drill in it, if I'm not mistaken. In 1.6, it does support couple of mods' ores, like Certus Quartz from AE. Lead, silver, copper and tin from TE. I might be missing out a whole damn lot of them but yes, it does have support for some mods.
And the rest of the mod also offers a whole ton of stuffs that you can have fun with. :)

You could also give Universal Electricity's Atomic Science mod a try. It has an Atomic Assembler that can duplicate whatever (most stuffs works, not all though) items you place inside it, it requires power and strange matter. And strange matter is made by running a hadron collider. My explanation isn't the best out there but check it out to see if you would like it or not.

I really like the idea of the drill but since its not usable with 1.4.7, its not an option :/

The AA looks nice, but I am not sure if it is compatible with the ultimate pack AN if there are enough items available to duplicate..

Why are you still running the Ultimate pack? The 1.5 packs are pretty good in terms of content and you could always make your own 1.6 pack if you want all the latest and greatest mods.

Could alway add Gregtech to Unleashed, there are premade configs laying around.

Still dunno why u still playing 1.4.7, should invest in 1.5 if u want gregtech, or simply go for 1.6 cause u are far behind as ic2 have changed a lot and so does gregtech in 1.5(became the most retarded mod ever)

1.4 has both Redpower and Gregtech.

MFFS calclavia also adds frames of sorts.

@iMontouch

By the sounds of things I am getting the impression that you are into hi-tech stuff. Calclavia'a MFFS adds a block called the force manipulator which can move forcefields. It can also move blocks inside those forcefields (including a good deal of tile entities). I think you might like it.

Just one of many wonderful things you can get if you update to 1.5 or even 1.6.

(Don't ask me how the force manipulator works though it is confusing to me.)

If we're urging this guy to move on to a new version, why not shove him all the way up into 1.6? Resonant Rise has a really "Ultimate" feel to it, but I can't remember what mods it contains right now.

Like, almost all of the mods? The only one I would add is Roguelike Dungeons, and that's already a mod in their modlist of "mods we're going to add later", they're just waiting it to be in a more usable state.
Engineer's Toolbox, Gascraft, Defense, Mekanism...

this pack looks pretty cool and in face we'd like to move on.

It is not neccesary but still nice to have thing to use gregtech. Can anyone tell me which mod does make gregtech incompatible to all the huge modpacks? Maybe it is an option to switch them?

Any ideas?

Why Gregtech? Fusionreactor + other several cool blocks; more hard to get items --> little more balance maybe^^

thanks!
(idc how bad my grammar is ;) )

Because there was this problem with the TiC/Natura author and GregT, almost everyone liked being able to create their own tools and weapons (TiC) but not as many people liked GT.
So, you can add GT yourself, but it will never be placed with TiC or Natura again in a Modpack unless you make it a private, non-downloadable pack.
And you're asking for balance in a sandbox game.
That's like asking for RTS games to be turn-based.
