What is the current version of Minecraft that FTB uses. I see 3 of the packs using 1.4.5, but the one I use is 1.4.2. Has it been updated and should I be using another pack?

FTB beta pack A= 1.4.2
Retro = 1.2.5
Magic world = 1.4.5

on the description for the pack it tells you the name of the pack the pack version and the minecraft version it uses.

Hope this helps

Will the FTB Beta Pack A be updated to 1.4.5 or should I start a new pack for it?

Correction. FTB Beta A */MIGHT/* be updated for 1.4.5, but in all likelyhood official release packs will be released for 1.4.5 as opposed to updating FTB Beta A.

So I have to start a new world then in order to have 1.4.5?

Well even if Pack A is replaced later you will not have to start a new world. Just use other packs and disable mods you don't have in Pack A. I think Pack A was something like a Test-Pack, which will be replaced by Ultimate, the Direwolf-Pack or the Technic-Pack. One of these Packs should include most of the mods included in Pack A (Ultimate will most likely include all of them).

Since only GregTech had a major config-change (and eventually IC2) you can even update Pack A yourself, by using the 1.4.5-Versions gotten via the Magic-Pack + installing some by hand and switching the IDs in the two configs (not sure if this is necessary, since IC2 and Gregs might even add the options to existing configs).

And you don't have to start a new world if you got more mods in a pack :p, which will most likely be the case, since XYCraft and Redpower are not in Pack A.

I am fairly sure that there will NEVER be a pack in the launcher called the "Technic-pack" unless it was put together by these people (who already have their own launcher, so still very unlikely*). Tech-pack or technical-pack maybe, but a name like technic-pack would bring mass confusion and massive bad publicity.

* I know there are other issues, but don't want to derail the thread any more by discussing politics.
